Truck Jackknifes On Northbound Kennedy
CHICAGO (CBS) -- All lanes of northbound Kennedy Expressway, except one, were shut down for more than two hours early Tuesday, after a semi-trailer truck jackknifed and began leaking diesel fuel.
Illinois State Police said the train was headed north on Interstate 90/94 near Addison Street when it jackknifed around 3:45 a.m.
A hazardous materials team was called in because the truck was leaking diesel fuel after the crash, which tore off the hood of the truck's engine.
The truck blocked three of four lanes, and the left shoulder on the northbound Kennedy. The scene was cleared by about 6 a.m. and lanes were reopened, but traffic was still backed up because of the crash.
