Troy Aikman Blasts Fox Sports' Hiring Of Skip Bayless
(CBS) After making his name as a polarizing opinion-maker for years at ESPN, Skip Bayless left the sports media giant for Fox Sports, where he's a part of a new show on Fox Sports 1: "Skip and Shannon," as he'll be a co-host alongside Shannon Sharpe.
That move didn't sit well with Troy Aikman, Fox's lead NFL analyst and one of the most well-respected figures in sports media. Aikman blasted Fox Sports' hiring of Bayless in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch.
"To say I'm disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement," Aikman told Deitsch. "Clearly, (Fox Sports president of national networks) Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless."
Aikman and Bayless have a history, as Bayless made an unsubstantiated claim in the 1990s that Aikman was gay, which Aikman has called "not accurate."
