Trestman: 'We Played A Terrible Football Game'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- When your team loses a game 54-11, no one escapes blame, and Bears coach Marc Trestman summed up his team's embarrassing loss to the Eagles in seven simple words: "We played terrible in all three phases."
Despite facing the NFL's 30th ranked defense, which had just given up 48 points to the Vikings last week, the Bears started the game three-and-out, and it all went downhill from there. Adam Podlesh punted the ball only 25 yards, and the Eagles took advantage to score a touchdown on their first drive. Devin Hester fumbled the ensuing kickoff, leading to another Eagles TD, and the Bears never got into the game, falling behind 24-0 late in the second quarter.
"The game just got away from us. We could never get back into it. We cut it to 21 points, and we just couldn't muster enough offense," Trestman told WBBM Newsradio's Jeff Joniak after the game.

Trestman said the offense, defense, and special teams all contributed to the blowout loss.
"We played terrible in all three phases. … There's no other way to look at it," he said. "It starts with me. I take accountability for it. I think our players have as well. They know that we win as a team, and we lose as a team. We certainly lost as a team, played terrible in all three phases."
Despite a humiliating loss on national TV, the Bears must pick themselves up for next Sunday, when they can clinch the NFC North title at home against the Packers.
"What we have is a great opportunity; an opportunity to win a division on Sunday at Soldier Field, and it couldn't get any better than that. So we've got to move on, and we've got to do it quickly," he said.
The Bears host the Packers on Sunday at Soldier Field for a chance to make the playoffs.
