Trestman Gives His Staff A Vote Of Confidence
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Despite his team's disastrous performance in a 55-14 loss to the Packers, Bears head coach Marc Trestman said he remains confident in his staff.
"It is bad ... there's no getting around it," Trestman said in an interview Monday morning with WBBM Newsradio's Josh Liss. "You can't sugar coat this. You can't sugar coat the last three weeks, and the way we played."
Despite having two weeks to plan for the game in Green Bay, Chicago looked completely unprepared from the start Sunday night, committing a penalty on the opening kickoff. Things only went downhill from there, as the Bears failed to enter Packers territory until the second quarter and outdid their Week 8 debacle against the Patriots by falling behind 42-0 by halftime.
"We didn't play well in any phase," Trestman said. "I thought we were ready to play. We had three outstanding days of practice. The focus was good. The energy was very good. Didn't translate to the game at all, from the start, with the penalties on our special teams to our inability, to move the football, and our inability to stop them. It was a total team breakdown in all three phases."

The Bears' back-to-back losses to the Patriots and Packers were the first time since 1923 that an NFL team has given up 50 points or more in back-to-back games, but Trestman indicated major shakeups – such as benching players or changes to the coaching staff – aren't likely.
"Right now, No. 1, is I am extremely confident in our staff, and the way they coach, and how they go about doing their work, and the attention they give to our players," he said. "The only thing we can do right now is take care of Minnesota. Certainly, there is history of teams moving forward from this, but we've just got to work on getting better, and the only way we can do that is go back to work this week, and stand up against Minnesota on Sunday."
