Trestman: Hester 'Strictly' A Return Specialist
(CBS) If Devin Hester has any visions of becoming an elite wide receiver, he's going to have to convince his head coach first.
Speaking at the NFL meetings in Phoenix on Wednesday, new Bears head coach Marc Trestman spoke on what Hester's role will be when the Bears begin training camp in Bourbonnais.
"Devin is strictly a specialist right now," Trestman told the Tribune.
Though he admitted that could change, the Bears head coach said the focus now needs to be on making Hester the best return man possible.
When the Bears fired Lovie Smith after the 2012 season, Hester questioned his desire to even play football in 2013.
"I'm going to go home and get away from football right now," he said. "I don't even know if I want to play again."
Today, however, Trestman said he believes Hester is comfortable with where he stands on the team.
