Track Work To Affect CTA Red Line Riders
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Track maintenance beginning Tuesday will affect Red Line 'L' riders at the busy Belmont station, and between the Cermak-Chinatown and 35th Street stations on the Dan Ryan leg.
At the Belmont Red-Brown-Purple Line station in Lakeview, all customers will have to board and exit northbound trains on the Brown/Purple line sides of the same platform, the Chicago Transit Authority says.
The boarding change takes place during track maintenance from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, continuing at the same time for the next three days before ending at 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Track maintenance on the South Side will force both northbound and southbound trains to operate on the same track between the Cermak-Chinatown and Sox-35th stations from 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, the CTA said.
The work will continue at the same time the next two days, ending Friday at 4:30 a.m., the CTA said. The work could cause minor delays and may affect train tracker predictability.
Riders should allow extra travel time, the CTA says.
