Tourney TV Ratings Highest In 20 Years
For the first time in the history of the NCAA Tournament, every single game will be nationally televised, and it seems like the new format is giving fans exactly what they want to see.
According to a Bloomberg report, the ratings for the first full day of the tournament were the highest they've been in two decades. CBS Sports and Turner Sports combined to cover all 16 games on Thursday, and will do the same on Friday.
The games were seen in an average of 5.7 percent of households in the top 56 U.S. television markets. Last year they were seen in only 4.6 percent during the first Thursday, that's a 24% increase from 2010 to 2011.
The ratings also mark the highest they've been since 1991, when the telecast was expanded to the entire day.
