Toub: 'I Wanted The Job'
(WSCR) After nine seasons as the Bears special teams coordinator, Dave Toub knew it was time to move on from the post he'd held for almost a decade.
Toub ultimately signed on to be the Chiefs special teams coordinator, but don't let that fool you. Toub, who was one of 13 candidates who were interviewed for the head coaching position, wanted to be the Bears next head coach.
"Really, I wanted the job," Toub told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I really did. I went in with full intentions of getting the job. It was a real thorough process. Phil (Emery) is very professional and very detailed. I was in there for three hours with him. I felt like I (made) all the points I wanted to make. I felt like I got those across. I thought it went well. Obviously, they got a great guy in (Marc) Trestman. I think the Bears will be fine.

Toub spoke highly of his time with the Bears.
"It really has been (great,)" Toub said of his time in Chicago. "It's been a wonderful nine years. We've done a lot of great things here, but sometimes it's just time, ya know? Sometimes it's just time to move on and see if you can do this at another place."
