Top 5 Players You Need To Select In Your Fantasy Draft

By Alex Darcey

August is a week away, which can only mean one thing - your fantasy football draft is rapidly approaching. As a fantasy footballer, the next few weeks will be spent cramming as much pigskin knowledge and formulas striving to become the greatest fantasy football GM in your league. This is serious stuff – winning a league means bragging rights for a year and having the prestige of your name eternally etched into your trophy's brass plaque, so here are the top five players you need to select in this year's draft.

1. QB – Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

Brees threw 39 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions last season with a mediocre receiving core. In the offseason, the Saints added value at the position, leading to more potential points for Brees…Oh and he also throws to the League's best Tight End (or is he a Receiver?)

2. RB – LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles

Supported by a rising star at Quarterback, has a new partner in crime, Darren Sproles joining him in the backfield and with Chip Kelly's high scoring offense he will rack up big points each game especially in PPR leagues.

3. TE – Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints

The best Tight End in the League by far, last year the next closest fantasy Tight End was Tony Gonzalez who trailed 84.6 points behind Graham, the biggest point differential among all the fantasy positions.

4. WR – AJ Green, Cincinnati Bengals

The extremely talented receiver is primed to have his best year yet. He is basically impossible to cover and has a crazy cohesiveness with his QB Andy Dalton that will lead to big numbers this season.

5. DEF – San Francisco 49ers

This defense is home to arguably the two best inside linebackers in the NFL, boasting exceptional talent across all defensive positions and led by a fantastic coach/motivator.
