Tony Pena To Miss Rest Of 2011 Season
(CBS) After failing to get through two rehab stints in Charlotte, White Sox reliever Tony Pena has called it quits for the 2011 season.
The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales tweeted the news Monday afternoon from U.S. Cellular Field.
Pena said he would see a doctor in Southern California later this week and indicated that surgery would be necessary. He has been on the disabled list with right elbow tendinitis since May 29.
The reliever was 1-1 with a 6.20 ERA (14 ER/20.1 IP) and 17 strikeouts in 17 relief appearances this season.
