Tony La Russa Retires
(CBS) St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa announced his retirement Monday morning.
The 67-year-old manager will go out on top after winning his third World Series Friday.
La Russa, 67, managed 33 seasons in Major League Baseball, including his last 16 in St. Louis. He started his managerial career with the Chicago White Sox in 1979. After getting fired in 1986, he moved on to Oakland where he won the 1989 World Series with the Athletics. In 1996, La Russa joined the Cardinals and went on to win 1,408 games, the most in franchise history. He also won the 2006 World Series with the Cardinals.
