Toews Wins Selke Trophy
(CBS) Three wins away from his second Stanley Cup Final victory and Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has been named the winner of the 2013 Frank J. Selke Trophy.
The Selke Trophy is given annually to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.
Patrice Bergeron of the Bruins and Pavel Datsyuk of the Red Wings were also finalists for the award.
The 25-year-old Toews ranked second on the Blackhawks with 48 points (23 goals, 25 assists) and ranked third in the NHL with a career-high plus-28 rating in 47 regular-season games. He also shared the league lead with 56 takeaways and ranked second in the NHL with a Western Conference-best 59.9 faceoff percentage.
