Toews, Kane Skipped As Hart Trophy Finalists
(CBS) Neither Jonathan Toews or Patrick Kane were among the three finalists named Friday for the Hart Memorial Trophy, given annually to the player most valuable to his team.
Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby, Washington's Alex Ovechkin and John Tavares of the New York Islanders are the three finalists this year.
Crosby missed 12 games this season due to injuries, but still accumulated 56 points in just 36 games. Ovechkin scored 32 goals in 48 games, while Tavares tallied 28 goals.
Votes were cast by members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the end of the regular season.
The winner won't announced until the Stanley Cup Final.
