Toddler Receives Special Gift From Church

CHICAGO (CBS) – A toddler who wasn't expected to live long after birth received a special gift Friday.

Meagan Seals, 2, was born with only 10 percent of her brain.

She has a condition called encephaloceles. Her brain was growing outside of her skull before birth. Doctors gave her two weeks to live.

Meagan has defied the odds.

Friday, members of Lutheran Church Charities and members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church gathered to make a special presentation to Meagan's family.

Both groups raised more than $9,000 needed to buy Meagan a customized wheelchair for her home and for outdoors.

The toddler's insurance company was not willing to pay for the wheelchair, because her condition is supposed to be terminal.
