Toddler Killed In Possible Murder-Attempted Suicide

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (CBS) - A 4-year-old girl is dead and her mother injured after a domestic incident Wednesday afternoon inside a townhouse in northwest suburban Bloomingdale.
Police responded at 1:31 p.m. to call of police and medical assistance involving a domestic situation in a townhouse in the 200 block of Amherst Court in Bloomingdale, a police release said.
CBS 2's Pamela Jones reports that police have the entire area around the townhome roped off with police crime tape Wednesday night. The case has neighbors in the are asking a lot of questions.
Police say a relative of the family living there called for help at about 1:30 p.m. reporting injuries in a domestic disturbance.
Officers found a 4-year-old girl dead, and her mother wounded. The mother was taken to Adventist Glen Oaks Medical Center in Glendale Heights.
Police say an 18-year-old daughter came home and discovered the crime scene. She ran to a neighbor, screaming for help.
"As I was coming in my house, a young lady was running up the driveway to us, and she was saying, 'help me, help me, help me' and she fell to her knees," said a neighbor.
"The fact that it's a 4-year-old girl, please. That poor thing. That's awful," said another neighbor.
Police towed a car from the home Wednesday night. It's unclear who the car belongs to.
But neighbors say the townhome belongs to the injured woman's mother.
Police say the woman is coherent and is expected to recover. They say charges are expected Thursday.
