Tillman Won't Return For Playoffs

HALAS HALL (CBS) — When the Bears put cornerback Charles Tillman on injured reserve with the designation to return, they were hoping he would be able to return for the playoffs.
That won't be happening though.
Head coach Marc Trestman announced Monday that Tillman will not return at any point this season, ending speculation that the defense could get a boost if the Bears qualify for the playoffs.
When Tillman was first placed on IR, he said the evaluation of this torn triceps was ongoing and surgery was not ruled out. Trestman would not confirm Monday if Tillman did indeed undergo surgery, citing privacy laws.
"It's been really a privacy issue with Charles, but he's not going to be available to practice for the rest of the season because he's not far enough in his recovery to do that," Trestman said.
Meanwhile, Trestman said linebacker Lance Briggs (shoulder) will practice three times this week and the head coach continues to be optimistic he'll play Sunday against the Eagles.
"It's going to be day to day," Trestman said. "I'm reasonably optimistic, but it's going to be through the three days of practice before a decision's made. He'll start practicing on Wednesday."
A final decision on Briggs' status will be made Friday.
