Tiger Woods' PGA Round 1 A Disaster
(CBS) -- After getting off to a great start in Round 1 of the PGA Championship, the wheels fell off the bus for Tiger Woods, as he struggled over the last 13 holes and posted a 7 over par 77.
It was Woods' worst score in the opening round of a PGA Championship. He is currently tied for 93rd place--with several players yet to even tee off when he finished his round.
Woods got off to a great start, with birdies on three of his first five holes. Then, things got ugly. He double-bogeyed the par 4 sixth hole, the par 3 15th hole and par 4 18th. He also bogeyed five other holes.
Woods spent much of the day in the sand, finding an astonishing 13 bunkers.
U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy has injured his right wrist while trying to play a shot against a tree root.
McIlroy was playing his second shot on the third hole, the ball up against roots. He let the club fall out of his hands after impact. Within minutes, he asked for an ice compress for his wrist, and he was constantly flexing it.
McIlroy won the U.S. Open with a record score and was considered the favorite to win the PGA.
