Three Suspects Charged In Lakeview Home Invasion That Left Woman, 77, Injured
(CBS) – Three Chicago men have been criminally charged following a weekend home invasion in Lakeview that left a 77-year-old woman hospitalized.
The suspects allegedly broke into the victim's residence in the 3600 block of North Magnolia Avenue early Saturday and stole property and her vehicle and left her unconscious. The woman, who was found by police with visible injuries, was recovering Sunday in the hospital in stable condition, her family said in a statement.
Eli R. Ruff, 18; Lilearl T. Taylor, 19; and Tracie J. Towbridge, 19, all were charged with burglary and home invasion with a dangerous weapon, Chicago police announced Sunday.
The three men were also charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle.
A relative of the victim told reporters Saturday that the woman's car, and the suspects, were involved in an accident on the Dan Ryan Expressway following the break-in.
Chicago police could not comment on the potential connection with the Dan Ryan accident, which was handled by Illinois State Police.
Ruff, Taylor and Towbridge were expected in bond court Monday, Chicago police said.
