Three Injured In Tinley Park Fire
TINLEY PARK, Ill. (STMW) -- Three people — including one firefighter — were taken to the hospital after a house fire Saturday afternoon in southwest suburban Tinley Park.
Fire Chief Ken Dunn declined to identify the victims and did not know the nature of the injuries, but believed they were not life-threatening.
Two were taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields and one to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet.
Firefighters responded to the call about 2:30 p.m. and found the garage at 8511 Hollybrook Lane fully involved in flames, Dunn said.
"They had a good amount of heat to deal with," he said, with temperatures in the 90s.
The fire was under control within 40 minutes, but the cause is undetermined.
The garage and one vehicle inside it were destroyed and two vehicles in the driveway were damaged, Dunn said. The interior of the house sustained a lot of smoke and heat damage and is not livable, he said.
One witness reported that the homeowner tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.
Tinley Park was assisted by fire crews from Homer Township, Homewood, Orland Park, Mokena, Frankfort and Matteson.
