Three Hurt When Three Semis, Four Cars Crash On I-55
CHANNAHON, Ill. (STMW) -- Three people were injured in a seven-vehicle crash involving three semi trucks Wednesday morning in southwest Illinois near Channahon.
The crash happened about 6:45 a.m. when traffic came to a stop in a construction zone on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) near Bluff Road, causing a chain-reaction crash involving three semis and four other vehicles, according to a release from Illinois State Police.
Three people were taken to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
The southbound lanes of the expressway were shut down for about an hour, according to the release.
Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
