Three Escape House Fire In Elgin
ELGIN, Ill. (CBS) -- Three people escaped a house fire in northwest suburban Elgin on Sunday.
Firefighters were called to the home at 182 S. Weston Av. in Elgin at 7:10 a.m., officials said.
An adult in the home woke up to the smell of smoke and jumped out a window. Two children in the home also jumped out of windows to escape the fire.
Firefighters had to break down a door to fight the blaze.
No one was hurt in the fire. The three people who escaped the flames were treated at the scene. Two dogs and two puppies were also rescued.
The fire began in the ranch-style home's living room and is under investigation, Michaels said. Damage to the home and its contents was estimated at $100,000. The home did not have working smoke detectors.
