Three Teens Dead In Crash In Kendall County
OSWEGO, Ill. (CBS) -- Three Plainfield teens died Monday after a semi-trailer truck collided with the car they were in and flipped over in unincorporated Kendall County near Oswego, Illinois state police said.
The crash happened at about 3:15 p.m. on Illinois Route 126 near the intersection with Schlapp Road.
A southbound black car with the three victims pulled in front of a semi heading east on Route 126. The truck collided with the car, causing the larger vehicle to flip on its side, police said.
State police identified the fatalities as Brian Herrera, 19, who was driving; Tyler Montgomery, 19, the front-seat passenger; and Alexis Banuelos, 18, who was riding in the back seat.
The truck driver was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, but was not seriously injured.
Residents say it's not the first accident that has occurred at the intersection.
"That corner scares me to death," Sandy Diller told CBS 2's Marissa Bailey. "They need a four-way stop or they need a flashing light, or they need something on that corner."
Toxicology results will not be back for several days, police said.
