Thousands Walk Downtown On Mother's Day In Annual Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Grant Park was a sea of pink as thousands came out for the 19th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Mother's Day.
Runners, walkers and volunteers wore pink shirts, capes, hats, socks and tutus.
You could run a 10k or 5k or walk a 5k or 1 mile during the event, which started at 8 a.m.
Survivors sitting a special area were given strands of pink beads, one for each year they are cancer free.

A volunteer said the survivor with the most was a woman who has lived 44 years beyond her breast cancer.
At the other end of the spectrum was Theresa Enot. The Plainfield woman just finished radiation for stage three breast cancer last month and walked with relatives in the event for the first time.
Organizers on site said they hope to raise $500,000 from the event.
The group's website says fundraising has reached about $215,000.
