Thieves Take Copper Pipes From Lawndale Elementary School
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Twice this week thieves have made their way into a CPS elementary school in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood and stolen copper pipes, police said.
The offender or offenders have broken into the James Weldon Johnson School at 1504 S. Albany Ave. through an exterior window, police said.
Once inside, they damages the walls in order to forcibly remove copper pipes.
The incidents have occurred sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. on Aug. 2-3 and Aug. 5-6, police said.
Police are asking area residents to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity in the area. Anyone with information should call detectives, at (312) 747- 8380.
