Thieves Grabbing Several Packages From Porches In Lakeview
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are warning residents of the Lakeview neighborhood to keep a close eye on their front porches, after a series of delivery thefts in the area.
CBS 2's Chris Martinez reports, thieves are targeting holiday packages, and police are now looking into several incidents.
Police say at least three suspects have swiped packages on two different occasions.
In one case, the alleged thieves were running down the street during the day, taking packages from the homes, running into alleyways and ripping open the boxes to see what was inside.
In a second incident, a man and a woman in a blue car drove down the street, stopping to run up to front porches to swipe the goods.
In some cases, after ripping open the contents, the thieves simply left it behind, assuming there was no value in taking it.
"It was left there, apparently whoever ripped it open didn't want it," said J.T. Barnard. "I have heard about a lot of folks up and down here that have seen people before."
