Theft Shuts Down Power On Brown Line Near Mart
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police activity at the Merchandise Mart CTA platform forced the agency to shut down power in both directions for about 15 minutes Monday afternoon.
Initial reports indicated someone was being held for a theft that occurred on the platform, police said. Another report indicated a battery may have happened.
CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said power was shut down on the Brown-Purple Line in both directions from the Merchandise Mart to Sedgwick stations due to the police activity.
By about 12:30 p.m., power had been restored, she said.
Police could not immediately provide further information.
