They were making progress, but the public can expect the area to be closed until late this afternoon.
There were about 300,000 music fans at the three-day festival, who left plenty of garbage and mud in their wake.
Crews also have to move out a lot of equipment and take down stages and sets.
There were several arrests during the event.
Sean Magee, 24, was among those taken into custody on drug charges at Lolla.
Prosecutors say he was carrying more than 150 ecstasy pills, worth about $3,000. Police arrested him on Friday while he was making a drug deal.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Magee and at least nine other people were in court on Sunday.
Also among those arrested: Anthony Nelson, 24, who police said was also in possession of ecstasy, and Dylan Horach, 18, who allegedly had LSD and heroin.
Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya that crime was not a major issue and that officers were mindful of terrorism.
This was the largest Lolla in history, and it is estimated that the event brought in $100 million into Chicago's economy.
