The latest gauge of the Chicago-area jobs market offers a mixed picture

WBBM's Regine Schlesinger explains.

A survey by Manpower Incorporated finds that for the fourth quarter of this year, Chicago-area employers mostly plan to maintain their current staff levels.  About the same percentage, 14 and 13 respectively, plan to increase or decrease their payrolls.

Manpower's Anne Edmunds tells Newsradio 780...."We have seen quite a bit of stabilization."
But at the same time, there's no evidence that employers are getting any closer to creating new full-time positions.

The one bright spot - manufacturing which Edmunds says began picking up in the third quarter and looks strong again for the last three months of the year.
