The Bernstein Brief: Macabre Drama Surrounding Ernie Banks' Estate

(CBS) As if a tug of war over Ernie Banks's remains wasn't ugly enough, now a third party is involved.
His twin sons and a family lawyer have entered the legal fray, contesting the new will they allege their father was coerced into signing by longtime caregiver Regina Rice. Estranged fourth wife Elizabeth Banks has already gone to court to keep Rice from having the body cremated, and it's still uncertain where the body even is.
Jerry and Joey Banks claim that the cremation effort by Rice is "suspicious,"and are also unhappy about Facebook posts by Rice that show her at a luxury spa enjoying champagne eight days after the funeral service.
The macabre drama is only beginning and could become more bizarre as details emerge in probate court and beyond.
A great player and well-liked personality now will be remembered too for all the creepy discord in the aftermath of his death.
