The Bernstein Brief: Enjoy This Week, Bears Fans

(CBS) If you are the naturally optimistic type, you have five days left.
The Bears kick off their 2015 season at Soldier Field against the Packers at noon Sunday, and until then you can drape yourself in whatever silver linings you can find. The holiday has truncated the work week, so any buildup of hope against hope now has to be concentrated quickly into your tantalizing, idealized visions.
Maybe the Bears aren't as bad as they appear, you tell yourself. These new coaches know what they're doing, so it can't look like last year, right? Nearly the entire defensive secondary is new, as is the base of the scheme. That has to help. Green Bay has been vulnerable earlier in the schedule too, and Jordy Nelson is out. And the NFL is weird and random, so good things might just happen for the Bears for no apparent reason.
Yeah, that.
Five more days of what could be the best possible time for anybody whose mood or self-esteem remains connected to Chicago Bears outcomes. So live it up.
