The Bernstein Brief: A College Coach Sets A Good Example
By Dan Bernstein--

(CBS) Western Michigan football coach P.J. Fleck kicked two players off his team after they were arrested Friday.
Linebacker Ron George and receiver Bryson White were arraigned Monday in Kalamazoo on felony charges of armed robbery, first-degree home invasion and larceny. Fleck suspended them immediately Saturday upon hearing of the incident, then acted just a day later to dismiss them. This wasn't a hard decision, seemingly, nor was it difficult for Fleck to point out who bears responsibility.
"It falls on me as the head football coach," he said. "I'm the one who offers the scholarships. I'm the one who brings people here. I'm the one in the last four years who brought in the type of student-athletes that we want to be very proud of here at Western Michigan.
"Somewhere along the line, obviously I didn't do a thorough enough job on a few guys."
Again, not hard.
It just might be for him if and when it happens again.
