Thayer: Ndamukong Suh Is Cheap
(WSCR) When the Bears and Lions face of the 163rd time in the history of these franchises, fans can expect one of the most physical games in the history of this storied rivalry.
Leading the charge for the physical battle will be Lions defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh, who is notorious for his dirty play. Chicago Bears radio analyst Tom Thayer said the Bears should go shot for shot with Suh.
"Ndamukong Suh is cheap," Thayer told The Mully and Hanley Show on Monday. "He's one of the best defensive players in the league, but he hits late, after the whistle, with the intentions of hurting people. If Ndamukong Suh wants to cheap shot someone on my team, I'm going to cheap shot (quarterback Matthew) Stafford. The best guy to do it is Julius Peppers. Now, I'm not calling for this, I'm just trying to police some of the dirty efforts by Ndamukong Suh."

Thayer said protecting your teammates is just part of the game.
"This is a great retaliation sport," Thayer said. "You better come with cinder blocks tied around your knees because I'm going to angle block you and hit you in every way, shape or form that I can hit you in the most uncomfortable form."
Offensively, the Bears will need to shut down wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who is averaging two touchdowns a game. Thayer said one of the ways to limit Johnson is to pressure Stafford. To do that, the Bears first must stop the run.
"I'd try to make their offense one dimensional – exclusively a passing game if you can shut down their run," Thayer said. "Then it gives the opportunity to rush the passer more aggressively and it puts a little more fear in the offensive line."
