Thayer: Bears Need To Think Super Bowl
With the Bears' playoff game now one week away, it's time to start thinking about what a realistic expectation is for them in the playoffs.
"You have to get to the Super Bowl," former Bear and current analyst, Tom Thayer said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "There is no other good enough than getting to the Super Bowl. And it's the only time during the course of any NFL season that you're looking farther than one game."

At this point, the Bears can't really look past their first playoff opponent. Because they still don't know who that opponent will be. But what the Bears need to do is prepare and devote themselves to a three-game stretch.
"The commitment, "Thayer said, "when everybody puts their hands in the middle and say 'alright, break,' it's a three-game commitment. It's everybody is all in for three games and that's the mentality. That's the attitude you have to have. You have to be a little more long-sighted in the playoffs than just one game."
There's a difference between being long-sighted and over looking an opponent. One will help the Bears to make a run to the Super Bowl, and the other could present them with the same fate at the New Orleans Saints.
