Thanksgiving + First Day Of Chanukah = 'Thanksgivukah'
(CBS) – Two holidays will collide next week, a convergence that hasn't happened in many years.
Thanksgiving is Thursday, but that's also the first day of Chanukah. That leads many people to dub the day "Thanksgivukah."
You better enjoy it this time around. As CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports, it won't happen again for decades.
Rabbi Lizzi Heydemann of Mishkan Chicago says we shouldn't read too much into the dual holidays, but she concedes the two are connected to gratitude and "creating light."
She thinks it's appropriate the holidays intersect because Chanukah is more like Thanksgiving than Christmas, where it usually falls.
