Terror Trial Pushed Back For Chicago Businessman
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A federal judge has agreed to push back the trial of a Chicago businessman charged in connection with the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India.
Defense attorneys for Tahawwur Rana had asked for a delay in his Feb. 14 trial to have more time to prepare.
On Friday, U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber agreed to move the trial date to May 16.
Much of the case relies on classified material, making pretrial preparations more difficult. During the trial, some sensitive material might be presented behind closed doors.
Rana has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of providing cover for a man who's admitted to scouting sites for the attack in Mumbai, which left more than 160 people dead.
