Te'o Posts Disappointing 40-Time At NFL Combine
(CBS) Manti Te'o did not do himself any favors Monday at the NFL Combine.
After losing weight to help improve his sprint speed, the former Notre Dame linebacker posted an official 40-yard dash time of 4.82, well below the sub-4.70 scouts were hoping to see. Last year's average for inside linebackers was 4.77.
Te'o has faced many questions since the Irish lost to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game. Most of those questions have been about off-the-field issues after the fake girlfriend hoax was exposed last month. But after a poor performance against the Crimson Tide and a disappointing Scouting Combine, NFL teams now have reason to question his athletic ability too.
The linebacker has been projected as a mid-to-late first round draft pick, but a slip to the second round can't be ruled out.
