Temperatures To Climb To Upper 60s; Chance Of Afternoon Rain
CHICAGO (CBS) -- On Tuesday morning, you might have felt as if you would blow away, as high and chilly winds gusted through the city for a second day.
But as the afternoon goes on, temperatures will climb to the mid- to upper 60s. The confusion has led to some awkward combinations of clothing, such as down coats with flip-flops.
As of 11:20 a.m., the temperature was 49 degrees at Midway International Airport and 50 at O'Hare, with a mix of sun and clouds. The midday figures are average highs for this time of year.
As a warm front comes in to raise the temperature Tuesday afternoon, showers and storms will work in the direction of the Chicago area. The most significant precipitation will be seen to downstate, but in the Chicago area, there is a 30 percent chance of showers or storms, CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reports.
There is a slight risk of severe weather in areas far to the south and west of the city in the late afternoon and early evening.
The high for Tuesday is 66 degrees. On Wednesday, the high climbs to 69 with sunny skies, but the high drops to 50 on Thursday and 57 on Friday, before returning to the 60s over the weekend.
