Teens Steal Pizza, Wallet, GPS From Delivery Man
ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) -- Two teenagers have been charged with beating and robbing a pizza delivery man Wednesday night in northwest suburban Elgin.
The victim told police he was attempting to deliver a pizza about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Belmont Street, according to a statement from Elgin police.
He was approached by two males, who demanded the food, then started to punch and kick him until they were able to steal it. One of the attackers then pulled a knife, and they stole the victim's wallet and the GPS from his delivery vehicle.
The men ran away with the pizza and other stolen items and the victim, who suffered minor injuries, called police, the statement said.
Based on descriptions of the attackers given by the victim, police went to a residence in the 300 block of South Belmont and found 17-year-old Tomichael L. Maye and a 15-year-old boy, both of whom were arrested, police said.
Both were charged with armed robbery, a Class X felony, and vehicular invasion, police said. Maye, of the 300 block of South Belmont, is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.
The juvenile, also an Elgin resident, was taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center and will face a detention hearing Thursday, police said.
