Teen "Very Critical" After Hit By Car In Schaumburg
CHICAGO (STMW) - A 14-year-old boy was in "very critical" condition Saturday morning after being struck by a car Friday night in northwest suburban Schaumburg.
The crash occurred at 9:13 p.m. near the Woodfield Mall, at the intersection of Higgins (Route 72) and Plum Grove roads in Schaumburg, according to a police press release.
The boy, a resident of Schaumburg, was crossing the street when he was hit by a Toyota Camry driven by a 61-year-old Hoffman Estates man, the release said. The boy was seriously injured and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he remained Saturday morning.
The driver of the car was not injured.
The intersection was completely closed to traffic following the crash, but was re-opened at approximately 1:15 a.m. Saturday, police said.
No charges have been filed as of Saturday morning and the crash remains under investigation.
