Teen Raising Money To Replace Late Friend's Damaged Monument
BATAVIA, Ill. (CBS) -- Friends of a Batavia teenager who committed suicide three years ago say her gravesite has been severely damaged - either accidentally or on purpose.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports 15-year-old Quincee Miller took her own life on Oct. 20, 2010, and this week, just days after her family and friends had a gravesite memorial, a monument at the burial site was found damaged.
"Either by accident or on purpose. No one knows why or what happened yet, but it got knocked over," said Haleigh Nesbitt, 19, a friend of Miller's.
Nesbitt said people had worked hard to raise money for the monument.
"That was years of raising money, and everything just down the drain. So it's heartbreaking for her friends and family, especially," she said.
Nesbitt has been leading an online effort to raise money to replace the monument.
She said Miller had been bullied, and suffered from depression.
