Teen Pleads Not Guilty In FBI Agent Murder Plot
CHICAGO (CBS) — A suburban Chicago teenager pleaded not guilty on Friday on charges that he tried to have an undercover FBI agent killed.
Adel Daoud appeared in Chicago federal court a week after prosecutors announced the charges, including solicitation of murder.
Daoud is already facing terrorism charges in what prosecutors describe as an attempt to bomb a downtown bar.
Investigators say that while behind bars, Daoud tried to arrange to kill an agent who prosecutors say played a role in the sting that led to his 2012 arrest in the bomb plot.
He's been in jail since then for trying to ignite what he thought was a car bomb outside the bar.
An agent posed as a terrorist from New York offered to supply Daoud with a bomb.
When Daoud, of Hillside, pressed a button that he believed would detonate the bomb outside Cal's and the Cactus Bar and Grill in the South Loop in September 2012, he was arrested, prosecutors say.
He has pleaded not guilty in that case.
