Teen Mother, Boyfriend Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide
(CBS) – A 17-year-old mother was found fatally shot in a Northern Illinois back yard early Thursday – the apparent victim of a murder-suicide perpetrated by the father of her baby daughter.
It happened in Harvard, 70 miles northwest of Chicago. CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports.
Friends say Jacqueline Flores had a troubled relationship with Miguel Andrade, 19, who allegedly shot her behind her home in the 1000 block of Apple Valley Road before he turned the gun on himself.
A .22-caliber revolver recovered from the scene, say police, who were responding to a disturbance right before the shots were heard.
"I can't believe she's not going to be with us, we're not going to graduate together," Flores friend Claudia Robles says. "Just knowing that her baby's going to grow up without her parents is just tragic."
Harvard police believe it's an open and shut case of murder-suicide. In a news release, they call it an "isolated, tragic incident."
Flores' 9-month-old daughter survives.
