Teen Killed During Drive-By Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) - A 17-year-old boy was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood early Sunday.
The victim, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as David Corral, 17, was on a sidewalk in the 5700 block of South Washtenaw Avenue about 12:15 a.m. when somebody inside a passing vehicle fired shots at him, police said.
Corral was shot in the armpit, police said. An autopsy Sunday found that Corral, of 3351 W. 63rd St., who was pronounced dead on the scene, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner's office. The victim was initially believed to be 18 years old, according to the medical examiner's office, but once he was positively identified the medical examiner's office found that he was 17.
As of late Sunday no one was in custody and police did not yet have a description of the vehicle.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
