Teen Charged In Shooting That Wounded 3 In Englewood
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An 18-year-old has been charged with a shooting that left three people wounded in Englewood on Friday.
Deonte Haywood was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, following a shooting and crash in the 7200 block of South Paulina Street, police said. He was ordered held on $100,000 bond on Monday.
Around 9:18 p.m. Friday, at least one person inside a vehicle shot three people in the 7200 block of South Paulina Street and then fired shots at police officers before crashing the vehicle, police said.
Police did not return fire during the incident. Police had been questioning multiple "persons of interest" in the shooting, but it was not immediately clear if anyone else would be charged in the case.
Two of the victims had been upgraded to good condition as of early Saturday, while one remained in serious condition, police said. One person in the vehicle was injured in the crash, police said. No officers were injured.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
