Teen Charged In Shooting That Critically Injured Woman

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 17-year-old from the Northwest Side was ordered held on $500,000 bond after he was charged in a Saturday shooting that critically injured a woman.

Anthony Figueroa, 17, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the shooting that happened about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, police News Officer Amina Greer said.

Figueroa, of the 3200 block of North Narragansett Avenue, allegedly approached a vehicle in the 5500 block of West Fullerton Avenue and yelled a gang slogan before firing into the vehicle, Greer said. He was charged Saturday, she said.

A 23-year-old woman inside the vehicle was shot in the head and the hand, Greer said. She remains hospitalized in critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Figueroa was ordered held on $500,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office website. He is scheduled to appear in court June 3 at Northwest Felony Court (Br. 50).
