Teen Charged In Gage Park Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A teenager charged with a Saturday shooting that left a man seriously injured in the Gage Park neighborhood has been ordered held on $500,000 bond.
Marcos Gonzalez, 19, of the 5200 block of South Campbell was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery/discharging a firearm and aggravated fleeing, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said. He also was cited for several traffic violations.
Patrolling officers saw muzzle flashes coming from the 2400 block of West 55th Street, where a 19-year-old man was found shot in the mouth, foot, left knee and ankle about 4:20 a.m. Saturday, according to police.
The officers then saw a man with a gun in his hand get into a vehicle that drove off, according to a police statement. Police followed and curbed the vehicle in the 5200 block of South Talman, but only the driver was still inside.
The driver was placed into custody and charged.
The victim was hospitalized in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
Gonzalez was ordered held on $500,000 bond, and will next appear in court Friday at Branch 48, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.
