Teen Arrested In Mag Mile Theft, Biting
CHICAGO (CBS) - A teenager was arrested on North Michigan Avenue after allegedly stealing a man's cell phone and biting him overnight.
About 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded outside the North Bridge mall, 520 N. Michigan Ave., where a man had chased and apprehended a 17-year-old boy who had allegedly stolen his cell phone, according to Near North District police Capt. Jerome Fluder.
The incident began at an unidentified address nearby when the teen approached the man on foot and complimented his cell phone, which the man had out.
"He said: 'Nice phone, can I see it?'" the captain said of the suspect.
The man gave the phone to him but when the teen ran away with it, he ran after him and apprehended the down the street near the North Bridge mall, where the teen allegedly bit the man in the chest and arm, according to the captain.
The teen was placed under arrest and police were going to take the victim, who appeared to be in his 20s, to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for an examination.
The teen is in custody and the Cook County State's Attorney's office has been notified, but no charges have been filed as of Thursday morning, according to the captain.
