Teams Would Be 'Happy To Unload Prospects' For Marmol
CHICAGO (WSCR) In his last 1.1 innings pitched, Carlos Marmol has given up three hits, five walks and seven earned runs on his way to blowing two saves. And as the trading deadline approaches, he recent struggles may not have much of an impact on his trade value.
"The guy still has great stuff, you know?" Peter Gammons, of the MLB Network, said on the Danny Mac Show. "And there are a lot of teams looking for closers, or he could pitch in a setup role, which he was really good at."
Gammons clearly isn't against the idea of trading Marmol, he's said in the past that the Cubs could get some good prospects in return for their closer. He just doesn't think the Cubs will end up dealing him.

Another player that's been mentioned as someone the Cubs might want to consider trading is Matt Garza, the starting pitcher the Cubs traded for over the offseason.
"I don't buy the notion that Garza should be traded," Gammons said. "Because if you come back next year, and you're going to contend, Matt Garza is a front-of-the-rotation guy. And starting pitchers are really really hard to find."
Marmol, on the other hand, Gammons thinks could be worth trading.
"I think a Texas, for instance, would be really happy to unload prospects for [Marmol]," Gammons said. "He might setup this year, but next year [Neftali] Feliz will be in the rotation and Carlos will be the closer."
