Taxi Crashes Into Wicker Park Restaurant, 2 Hurt
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A taxi cab crashed through the window of a Wicker Park restaurant on Thursday, injuring two customers of the restaurant.
The taxi crashed through a plate glass window at Prasino, located at 1846 W. Division, around 10:15 a.m., as it was raining, police said.
Police said the taxi possibly went out of control because of wet pavement.
Two patrons inside the restaurant were hurt, but their injuries were not considered life threatening, police said.
"At the time we had three or four people dining in the dining room when all of a sudden this cab came right through the window," said Prasino accountant Jessica Lee. "The cab hit the booths and the tables where the people were sitting."
One person was taken in good condition to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.
Lee said there were two passengers in the taxi who also may have been injured.
"The whole dining room is surrounded by windows,'' she said. "The whole wall is made out of six or seven windows and two or three of them are totally shattered.'"
"Right now we have a big hole in our restaurant,'' said Lee.
She said police were interviewing the cab driver.
