Taxes Going Up No Matter Who Gets Elected Governor, Watchdog Group Says
(CBS) -- Regardless of who you vote for in the governor's race, you're in for higher taxes, according to the head of a good government group, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.
Raising taxes isn't something politicians like to talk about on the campaign trail, but Democrat Pat Quinn says if re-elected governor he will make permanent the state's five percent income tax while Republican challenger Bruce Rauner wants to expand the sales tax to services.

Madeleine Doubek, chief operating officer for the non-partisan government group Reboot Illinois, says higher taxes are coming and possibly even more than you've heard about.
"Bruce Rauner, the numbers he has outlined have not been particularly detailed and they do not add up at the moment," Doubek said.
Doubek says Illinois' worst in the nation credit rating and pension debt make it necessary to find more money. She says Chicago isn't any better off as Mayor Emanuel looks to parking, amusement and corporate taxes to help meet upcoming pension payments.
Governor Pat Quinn and Bruce Rauner will be debating tonight as the DuSable Museum Auditorium. The debate is being hosted by the Chicago Urban League and the Business Leadership Council and will be broadcast on CBS 2 at 6 p.m.
